Setting up a dial up networking connection
The information displayed on this screen has been optimised for you to print.
This will explain how to connect to Pinnacle through Windows 2000 Professional.
If your machine is connected to a local area network, check with the system administrator before continuing with these instructions.

- Click on the Apple symbol Choose Control Panel from the Apple menu
- Choose PPP in the 'Connect via' field., Choose Using PPP server in the 'Configure' field
- Select PPP server, the dialoguebox will show you that the IP address, the subnet mask and the router address are supplied by the server
- Select the Windows Setup tab
- Select Communications
- Place a check mark by Dial-Up Networking
- Click OK twice
- Your computer will start copying files, at this point it may prompt you for your ME CD. Your computer may be rebooted once the file transfer is complete.
- In the Name server address field type in the two name servers (on consecutive lines)
- 195.224.180.227 and 195.224.180.229
- In the 'Search domains' field type pncl.co.uk
- On closing this control panel you will be prompted to save these settings; please do so.
- next, we move on to setting up the PPP/Remote Access control panel (Remote Access in OS 8.6 or newer)
- Choose the Control Panels from the Apple menu.
- Open the PPP or Remote Access control panel. The following window appears:
- Check the 'Registered User' button.
- In the 'Name' field type in your Pinnacle User Id (UKPNN/pnn....)
- In the 'Password' field type your Pinnacle Dial-up Password, making sure you enter this in lower case
- You can also check the 'save password' box to save this if you wish
- In the 'Number' field type in the valiant telephone number: 0845 0798774
- click ok, you will be prompted To save your PPP settings
You are now set up to use PPP and can try connecting, either using the Connect button in the PPP or Remote Access Control Panel. You will remain connected to the Server until you disconnect by clicking on the Disconnect button in the PPP or Remote Access control panel, (usually) or Choose Disconnect Remote Access from the Apple menu. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS DISCONNECT to avoid your telephone bill increasing unnecessarily!
