Setting up a dial up networking connection The information displayed on this screen has been optimised for you to print.
This will explain how to connect to Pinnacle through Windows 2000 Professional.
If your machine is connected to a local area network, check with the system administrator before continuing with these instructions.

Essential components
- Pinnacle Dial-Up User ID and Password (Please call 01903 524999 to order this, if you do not already have details)
- Correctly installed modem
Ensure that Dial-Up Networking has been installed.
- Begin by clicking on Start
- Next click on Settings
- Select Network and Dial-Up Connections
- Then select Make New Connection. A Connection Wizard will now appear
- Click Next
- Select the Dial-up to private network button
- Click Next
- Select the correct Modem
- Click Next
- Enter the area code 0845 and then the phone number 079 8774
- Ensure the country code is set to United Kingdom
- Click Next
- Select For all users in this screen
- Click Next
- Enter Pinnacle Internet for the name of the connection and also select Add shortcut to my desktop
- Click Finish
- Next you will see a connection window with a user name and password box
- In the username box enter your UKPNN/pnna*** number supplied to you by Pinnacle
- In the password box enter your password, also supplied to you by Pinnacle
- Check that the number in the Dial box is 0845 079 8774. If this not the case see trouble shooting guide below
Additional Settings
- Next select the Properties button.
- A new window will appear with five tabs on the top.
- Select the Security tab.
- Ensure that the settings on this window is 'accept any authentication'
- Select the Networking tab.
- On this form select Settings button.
- Uncheck Enable Software Compression radio button.
- Uncheck Enable LCP Extensions radio button.
- Uncheck Multilink option radio button.
- Click OK
- Ensure that the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is installed. If this is not the case see the trouble shooting guide below
- Highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- Now click on the Properties button.
- In this new window select Use The Following DNS Addresses radio button.
- In the primary DNS enter 194.131.104.225
- No secondary DNS is required.
- Click OK
- Then click OK again
- You will now be back to the Connect-to-box
- Now click on the Dial button.
Trouble Shooting
- If section is unable to provide an answer please contact Technical Support. Ensure you record any error messages that appear
- Ensure you have your user details, if not please contact Pinnacle Administration
- Ensure that your Username & Password are entered correctly, paying attention to upper & Lower case.
- If having trouble with Dial-Up Networking go to the Microsoft Knowledge Base where you can search for information on any Microsoft product.
- If you do not have TCP/IP installed
- Simply follow the additional settings procedure, and click Install on the Networking Tab
- You will now be presented with a small window with 3 options, select protocol click Add
- Now you will be presented with a list of protocols, select TCP/IP
- Click OK to finish the required edits
